Minister's Message
As Jesus and his disciples head to a deserted place, perhaps seeking peace and quiet, many from the surrounding towns follow them. Instead of turning them away, Jesus responds with compassion and begins teaching. As the day goes on, the disciples worry about the practical details and urge Jesus to send the people away so they can find food. Instead, Jesus gives them what seems like an impossible task: “You give them something to eat.”
The disciples can only see the limits of what they have. Yet when they “go and see,” their small offering becomes enough for everyone. The people were fed as they broke into smaller groups, each receiving what they needed. Thousands are nourished, not by one person alone, but through the shared abundance and the sacred act of breaking bread together.
This story reminds us that the world is filled with abundance and generosity. When what we have is shared, there is enough for all. Jesus shows us that even what seems impossible for mortals can become possible through God’s power and care and our action.
May we be rooted in the good news that together, the impossible is possible.
